An Elegy Written in a Modern Transport

On my way home, one uneventful afternoon, and wondering why people in a bus looked so lonely in spite of the crowd ( not an unexplored theme at all) , I happened to see ,what I have since then in my head called, "The Lonely Grave" (Capital L an G ever present) .What first struck me was how green and aesthetic the place was and the next thing was how lonely the grave looked. Obscure and quiet, not claiming any recognition (there was no name on the headstone), someone was resting in peace there.Left alone.....Unsought after......

Even in Death

Death has always held an incredible fascination for me.It is the one experience that is absolutely one's own, something everyone has to deal with single handedly and inevitably. It is the one aspect of  life which is still shrouded in mystery and speculation. The closest we can get to is near death experiences or paranormal entities but again , is there even an element of reality in these claims or are they merely desperate  attempts of the human imagination to play the control freak in a no win situation ?So what happens after we die? Is Dante's Inferno or the Elizabethan Firmament for real? And the best part, who can tell us? If Descartes' "Cogito ergo sum" is what defines us all, do we cease to exist when we stop thinking? What about that undefinable part of one that one knows is not just the brain, the part which Science would never recognize, the part which makes us who we really are. Or is there something like that at all? Haven't you ever felt that you are trapped in a body from which you would love to break free ....for once and go roam the  Universe...Be free of the endless hassles of your circumstances? Is that logic? And what about those little cherished pleasures of the ambiguous term "Life", like a hot cup of coffee and a nice, new book to read on a cold , rainy afternoon in one' s warm bed or that little feeling of elation when someone opens a present one spent months planning on and looks genuinely delighted....... Does the person in The Lonely Grave miss all this? I don't know .....Just take that leap of faith and go on living i guess.....till Death comes and maybe afterwards too .:)
All roads lead here

BOOKED!!!!!

The Book lover's Utopia

I was on my way back after college one evening when I happened to glance out of the window towards a side road. There it was!  A place which would become one of my favourite haunts .......A modest bookstore  in the side of the road which has never ceased to surprise me with its variety and popularity.

The store is located in Malleswaram 10th cross. From Chaucer to Chomsky, this bookstore is the literature student's and for that matter every economical book lover's dream.Since most of the books are resold, they are priced really low.One example would be Lord Of the Flies by William Golding for 30 bucks!!!! IOU Bus! For this place.....

A Matter Of Choice

Struck in traffic one fine morning, frustratingly late for the first hour and thinking about Hemingway's double barreled gun  ( I always think about this good man's abrupt adios to life in moments of agony to stop the flow of inappropriate words which might cause discomfort to my bus mates if yelled out aloud ) , my eyes fell upon the traffic signal.

Stop ,Caution ,Go

No ambiguity about them. Traffic signals tell one exactly what to do. Life would be so much easier (less interesting maybe)  if we didn't have to make so many choices. From what to wear to what to be,the list is endless. Reflecting upon my own choices , I was thinking about how many of one' s choices are  free spirited independent of one's environment .How much do we actually choose and how much is only a pretense of choice? I realized that we can never be  sure if our choices were right .But again, "What is right?"  is only a matter of choice .Maybe its about realizing that we choose something because it seems the "most right "at the moment. So no regrets...Lots of choosing still left to do........Hopefully......

Hi!!!!!! n welcome to buzz!!

Hi
As a part of a our college assignment , we were asked to create a blog. I was going back home in a bus when I had this idea for Buzz.I m a day scholar who spends about four and a half hours in buses everyday. So I thought that I could make a blog about buses and  travelling.Hence, the name BUZZ.Anything ranging  from a random thought that crosses one's mind while gazing out of the window to the diversity of human nature found in ample amounts in buses to a new place which inspires one to step out of the bus and explore.......all of it will be included in this buzz based on buses.
